On Saturday the 14th May 2022, the 36th Northampton (St Mathews) Scout Group who were camping at Overstone Scout Campsite & Activity Centre, joined with over 50 other members of the District to celebrate 70 years since the Chapel was dedicated by the then Bishop of Peterborough, Dr Spencer Leeson.

Since then, the Chapel at Overstone, has been the centre of prayer, reflection, and remembrance for both Young People and Adults.

The event was organised by the Overstone Scout Campsite & Activity Centre Scout Active Support Unit. Northamptonshire County Scouts was represented by Robert Peden (DCC Programme) and it was good to see Northampton new District Commissioner Ian Malcomson at his first official event.

During the celebration a Candle of Remembrance was lit by a Beaver Scout from the 38th Northampton (Moulton) Scout Group in Memory of all Scout Members called to Higher Service and a plaque was also unveiled by the Chair of the District Executive in Memory of all All Scouts throughout the world, who have died, suffered and lost loved ones, during the Covid Pandemic.

The service ended with a reading by a Scout from the 36th Northampton (St Mathew) Scout Group.

Teas and coffees were then served in Knights Lodge where Bob Peden presented two Chief Scout Gold Awards to Scouts from the 36th Northampton (St Mathew) Scout Group.
