Dave Watts – Chief Scout’s 60 years Service Award
Following numerous attempts over the last year, Northampton DC Ian Malcomson finally caught up with Dave Watts to present him with his Chief Scout’s 60 years Service Award on the 2nd November 2022.
Dave has had many roles in Scouting in Northampton over the 60 years he has been involved from Section Leader to GSL, Deputy District Commissioner, to Chair of the Appointments Committee as well as serving for many years on the District Executive.
It was appropriate that this award was presented to Dave at the Overstone Scout Campsite and Activity Centre during the regular Wednesday working party day as he has spent many years maintaining, looking after, and caring for the site as well as meeting and greeting users. Dave was a long time Chair of the Overstone Management Team (OMT) and oversaw project like the building of Knights Lodge. He is still very active and supportive to the OMT and myself as Manager, giving up his time to help out anyway he can.
I personally and on behalf of the OMT and all the SASU Members of Overstone would like congratulate Dave on this award and to thank him for all he has done over the years to develop the Camp Site and look forward to working with him for many years to come.
